Dental Practice In The Heart Of Dunfermline

veneers

Dunfermline

Veneers are thin pieces of material made up of porcelain which are carefully attached to the surface of your tooth to improve their appearance.

Porcelain veneers add a layer of protection to your existing teeth, and they also disguise dental flaws including:

Chipped teeth
Uneven teeth
Heavily stained or discoloured teeth
Slightly misaligned teeth
Gaps between teeth

Porcelain veneers can be used to treat one tooth, several teeth – usually at the front of your mouth, or you can get veneers for your whole mouth.

What types of veneers are there?

Veneers can be made from either composite resin or ceramic, both of which have their own advantages.

Ceramic is a very thin and hard type of glass, which means that your veneers will be shiny and bright. Ceramic is also more resistant to staining so it’s an excellent low-maintenance option.
Composite resin is made from a similar substance that is used in fillings and are tooth-coloured. However, as it is porous it is more liable to stain so regular polishing is recommended to keep them looking tip-top.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do veneers last?

If you take good care of them, composite veneers can last around 3-7 years whereas ceramic veneers can stay on average for 10-15 years. Once veneers are applied, just treat them like natural teeth. You must maintain regular oral hygiene at home and visit us for routine hygiene to ensure that your new veneers will continue to look great.

What will my teeth look like when they are reshaped for porcelain veneers?

Generally, veneers require two visits: one to shape the teeth and one to cement these natural looking veneers to the teeth. Between visits, your dentist can place attractive provisional veneers to help prevent sensitivity, allow function, and provide a nice smile. These provisional veneers are designed to be in your mouth for a limited time but should be comfortable until your new veneers are completed.

Having been in the NHS system for many years with the same dentist the practice went private and i was informed by a text which was not in my opinion the correct way to treat customers. This was the time to search for a dentist and i opted to try the Linden Tree as my wife had treatment done there and was very happy. After my first appointment i realised what id been missing all these years, from the cleaning to the dental work it was first class —-treated like a person and they talk to you and have the time to explain what they are doing or going to do, the dental work i had done was great and my mouth hasn’t felt this good for some time, money was well spent, you don’t realise what your missing with NHS until you go private —the Linden Tree are very professional and have all the up to date modern equipment, great people to deal with.

Staff went above and beyond when I needed a painful tooth removed recently. Moved things around to get me in quickly then gave first class service from the minute I arrived. Everything carefully explained to me including aftercare. Highly recommend. Thank you.

I am extremely anxious ( terrified),when it comes to dental appointments and have experienced panic attacks. The Linden Tree Dental Lounge is exceptional because the team have the understanding and the patience to help alleviate that extreme anxiety. The dentist allocated was Roger Gongçalves and he allowed me to take things at a pace that suited me. Reassurance, without pressure, which made a very uncomfortable situation bearable for me. Even though I still get very anxious,it isn't the same level of crippling anxiety that led to panic attacks. I can highly recommend The Linden Tree Dental Lounge if you are an extremely anxious patient who is terrified of dentists. I have been twice for essential treatments with great results and already booked my next appointment.
